What we did
In 2004, 2005 and 2006 small patient groups were facilitated by the Macmillan Patient and Public Worker using the following discussion structure:
- Travelling and transport arrangements
- Structure of the day
- Activities
- Staffing and volunteers
- The building and environment
Evaluation
As a result of the consultations and subsequent feedback sessions, minor but important gaps in communication between staff, patients and volunteers were identified and systems and methods were put in place to rectify this.
The consultation in 2006 produced evidence for Grampian Hospital Arts Trust (GHAT) indicating that there would be uptake from patients using the day service for an informal art group.
Plans for the future
No future plans, as the contract of the Macmillan PPI Worker ends in January 2007.
Taster sessions for the informal art group took place during September and October 2006.
